About Fitna the Movie
Vanochtend las ik in de NRC-Next van gister dat de PVV boos is over ‘anti-Fitna-Film’. Het is en blijft een ingewikkeld kwestie om buiten het ‘vrije westen’ wat de vrijheid van meningsuiting nou precies inhoud.
Deze vrijheid net als persvrijheid die in ons land de pluriformiteit van het nieuws waarborgt blijkt lastig uit te leggen in landen waar dit niet zo vanzelfsprekend is.
Nadat ik klaar was met de krant ging ik eens een kijkje nemen op http://www.aboutfitnathemovie.com/. Dit bleek een erg eenvoudige site, een initiatief van de Wereldomroep met de volgende tekst en youtubefilm:

Nu is de PVV boos, wil dat de subsidie voor deze Nederlandse organisatie wordt stopgezet. Waarom? Het enige dat de film laat zien is hoe vrijheid van meningsuiting werkt, dat de regering deze vrijheid wil waarborgen en waarom en dat Geert Wilders niet alle Nederlanders vertegenwoordigt.
Wat is daar nou erg aan? Wereldomroep, geweldig werk!
Per slot wil ik nog even benadrukken dat ik niet bericht over Wilders of de PVV maar over de erg goede korte film: ‘About Fitna the Movie’.
